Sled Dog 101:
A Team consists of one “musher”, one to four dogs, and (at your option), a helper (partner/spouse/child). It is recommended that you bring your own gear – however we will have gear available for your use.
Our clinics cover the all the basics: How to's from choosing your gear, maintenance and basic husbandry issues, to correctly fitting your dog's harness and harness breaking your dog. Training issues including lead dog training, corrective measures, slackers, motivation, speed vs. manners, trail etiquette, hook ups, safety, hands on cart or sled training. We keep our groups small – to a maximum of six to eight “teams”, in order to allow enough individual instruction.
These clinics run two full days and you have the option of utilizing our B&B/lodge, or camp on our acreage & bring your own camping gear & food. Clinics are held year round. We are also within a 20 minute drive of several lakes, where you can enjoy some of the regions’ spectacular scenery. Contact us for pricing information.
Please note: you are responsible to ensure that your dogs are up to date on vaccinations and are completely worm and flea free. If you bring fleas or other parasites into the kennel you will be charged the $1,000 per month it will cost us for as many (3 - 6) months as it takes to eradicate the problem that you brought in with you. Our kennel has been parasite free for many years and the cost and headache of health issues to get rid of these pests in a kennel of this size is enormous. Your cooperation and understanding of this is appreciated.
