snow buddies, eight below, snow dogs, Kevin of the north, call of the wild, stone fox, the shining mountains movies, film productions, animal talent, dog teams, dog sled coordinator Our Movies We are now very proud to say that our dogs have been featured or starred in every major dog sledding film since 1999, Including 8 Below, Snow Dogs, Kevin of the North, Call of the Wild, The Shining Mountains and several commercials - although sadly - NOT the Smirnoff Ice commercials! Watch for us in the newly released Keystone picture - "Snow Buddies"
March 2007: Over the last few weeks we have been in Vancouver filming the Keystone/Disney film "Snow Buddies". The storyline is based on the successful "Air Bud" franchise. In this latest installment - the air buddies 'babies' get lost in Alaska and help out a husky puppy and his boy owner. There is a lot of mushing for the four adult character dog teams - for which we supplied all the teams, sleds, gear and Laurie was hired on as the Dog-sledding coordinator. Which means a lot less sleep and a lot more responsibility!
Laurie & Devon discussing training techniques - Mt Seymour We have had a lot of fun in spite of the less than ideal weather conditions - and since we are in Vancouver that means rain, slush, snow, rain. Contrary to rumor - the puppies that were involved in playing the 'characters' are very sweet and very well looked after. At no time were they ever mistreated by handlers or trainers. Also - the pups are and were never on set with the adult sled dogs. The American Humane Society was on hand for all the days that there could have been any risk to any of the dogs. Pictures from the set of Snow Buddies: building the cabin - in the parking lot at Hemlock Valley comments from the set of "Snow Buddies" " I was a little unsure of how things would be when we agreed to come and do this movie project - until I saw how you handled the dogs and their care. I have been impressed with what a class act you are. I couldn't be happier that our dogs have ended up at your kennel and in your care. Thank you, Laurie." Vicki deCoffe, Armstrong, BC, White Valley Racing kennels (retired) and mom to mushing double, Josh deCoffe. "I have been continually amazed at the endurance and energy of your dogs. Your vigilance and education of the public to dog teams and the sport in general is to be commended. Your dogs love of their work and the care you take with them is obvious. I am so impressed that I am definitely coming up to visit you next winter for my own dogsledding experience." Chris Obonsawin - American Humane Association - Film Unit - "Snow Buddies" production - February & March 2007. ************************************************************
