What's New??????

Watch for updates here!

February 7th, 2008

After a hectic couple of weeks where we competed in our local race and then took part in the annual Quesnel to Barkerville Mail run we are back at it here at home. For Gold Rush Mail Run pictures & updates on all the fun please go to:  http://www.dogsledmailrun.ca/

Snow levels this year have been low to moderate and as I write this update we have had 3 inches of snow fall overnight. And still falling. So as long as temperatures stay cool we will be running for a few more weeks yet.

Our latest film production was released this week - so when you have time check out the new DVD release "Snow Buddies". I haven't seen it yet - but anxiously looking forward to it I hear it is pretty good - but remember it is a kids movie!

I have been asked by several folks why I don't do a lot of advertising on our website for the films we have done. There are a couple of websites out there that are flaunting pics and info from the movie and while they did sell a pup or two to the production - Disney was very clear that they did not want pictures of the puppy teams released before the DVD was out.

As always, in every production I have worked in - I have respected the wishes of the production company.. and so therefore do not broadly announce that our dogs were involved. I do not and never have used our participation in films as a tool to market the sale of pups - unlike several kennels that profess to be above board and are really nothing but puppy mills and use the sale of one or two of their dogs to a production company as a reason to breed and sell more puppies.

While we have never supplied or sold puppies or adult dogs to a production - we have always been involved in supplying teams of adults, equipment, safety training, assisted with animal training and been responsible for training the 'character or hero' dogs to work in harness. I have been able to supply mushers, and been a mushing consultant on every film we have worked in.

As those who know me are aware - I get pretty bummed out by the puppy mills using the films to promote themselves, while we work very hard and diligently doing breed rescue, education and in supplying quality teams and training and respect the directives of the production.

Happy trails

Until next time - happy trails!
